Grant funding is offered to enable institutions to implement innovative ideas and established research pertaining to the elimination of four preventable diseases of poverty: malaria, polio, lymphatic filariasis and onchocerciasis (river blindness).
Launched in 2019 and based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, the Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE) aims to be an innovative leader in disease elimination to alleviate suffering and improve human lives. The organisation is a partnership between His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
