Postdoctoral fellowships for early career scientists in Africa to obtain training in various laboratories of the NIH Institutes and Centers for two years before returning to their home institutions in Africa for another two years of independent research.
The African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) was established by the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMBF) in 2019.
