17-08-2023 - Scientific-Technical Peace and Conflict Research: New BMBF to Fund New Junior Research Groups
Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF - Federal Ministry for Education and Research) launched the funding initiative ‘Junior Research Groups in Scientific-technical Peace and Conflict Research with a Focus on Arms Control’ (Nachwuchsgruppen in der naturwissenschaftlich-technischen Friedens- und Konfliktforschung mit Schwerpunkt Rüstungskontrolle) to respond to the increased significance of peace and conflict research for natural and international politics under current geopolitical conditions. The initiative is part of the BMBF framework programme ‘Understanding Society - Shaping the Future’ (Gesellschaft verstehen - Zukunft gestalten) and supplements a previous funding call for peace and conflict research in the humanities and social sciences. It also contributes to mission 6 of the German government’s Future Strategy for Research and Innovation which focusses on resilience.
