As a provider of jobs, food, materials and clean water, among a host of other resources, forests play a crucial role in the operation of society and the economy, while operating as a habitat for a broad range of terrestrial species. In the fight against climate dysregulation, forests are a natural ally to aid in the adaptation to global changes. However, forest ecosystems are currently facing multiple unprecedented pressures, particularly those resulting from natural disturbances resulting from climate change (wildfires, storms, droughts etc) and the emergence of new diseases, pests and parasites and a continuously increasing demand for natural resources. Human activities and management practices have a major impact on the current and future state of forests. Faced with threats to the socioeconomic, biological and ecological functions of forests, managers and decision-makers must address a number of uncertainties.
