The Major Instrumentation Initiative (Großgeräteinitiative) programme of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG - German Research Foundation) is a strategic funding tool that is designed to support the acquisition of costly major instrumentation and equipment with outstanding or novel technology for use in research.
