The Ministère des Armées (Ministry of Armed Forces) is a French government ministry tasked with overseeing the French Armed Forces in France and overseas. The Ministry is also responsible for funding certain research projects that relate to questions of national security and defence. Within the Ministry, a research institute on defence matters is operated, named Institut de Recherche stratégique de l’École militaire (IRSEM - Institute for Strategic Research). This Institute is overseen by the Direction générale des relations internationales et de la stratégie (DGRIS - General Management of International Relations and Strategy).
